Cleveland Man Sentenced for Soliciting Child Pornography

A Cleveland man has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for soliciting child pornography from a minor, a federal judge ruled in a case handled by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Rochester, NY.

David Bills, 39, of Cleveland, Ohio, was convicted of soliciting an image containing obscene material from a minor, according to U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr.

The defendant began communicating with a Department of Homeland Security undercover agent in April 2018, using his iPhone to engage in sexual conversations with the agent, who was posing as a 13-year-old female from Rochester, NY.

Between April 24 and April 25, 2018, Bills requested the agent to send him sexually explicit photos of herself via text messages, Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. Marangola stated.

The case was the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.

The sentencing is a significant blow to those who prey on children for their own twisted desires, U.S. Attorney Kennedy said in a statement.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Rochester, NY, is committed to protecting children from exploitation and abuse, Kennedy added.
