A Franklin County man is facing a lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
According to the plea agreement, Corey D. Harley, 38, of Waynesboro, conspired to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine from November 2011 to July 18, 2012.
The investigation that led to Harley’s prosecution was conducted by the Safe Streets Task Force, a collaborative effort between the Laurel Highlands Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and several local law enforcement agencies.
Harley pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine before United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson.
The plea agreement does not specify the exact amount of cocaine involved in the conspiracy, but it is clear that Harley’s actions had significant consequences.
Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
Harley’s sentencing is scheduled for October 30, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. The law provides for a total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and Harley’s criminal history, if any.
