A convicted felon has been sentenced for bringing a shotgun onto a DC Metrobus. Michael Lee Johnson, 32, was found guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Carrying a Firearm Without a License after a trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
The incident occurred on January 10, 2023 when Johnson was riding a Metrobus in the Washington, D.C. area. Upon boarding the bus, Johnson was observed with a shotgun, prompting the bus driver to call 911.
Johnson was arrested and charged with the above-mentioned crimes. He was subsequently convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department.
