A 24-year-old Corinth man has been handed a 12-year prison sentence for his role in a brazen armed carjacking.
Talinn Loveless, 24, of Corinth, was sentenced to 144 months in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson after pleading guilty to taking a motor vehicle from the presence of another through force, violence, and intimidation, as well as brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Loveless was also ordered to pay $5,000.00 in restitution to the victim and will be on supervision for three years after his release from prison. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal following sentencing.
Loveless’s sentence was met with approval from U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner, who stated, “Violent criminals belong in jail, and the sentence imposed today by Judge Davidson has ensured accountability for the actions of this defendant.”
Corinth Police Chief Landon Tucker echoed Joyner’s sentiments, thanking the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their hard work and assistance in the case. “The Corinth Police Department would like to thank the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for their hard work and assistance in this matter,” Tucker said. “This defendant was rightfully brought to justice. We will continue to prioritize the safety of our community and ensure that those who threaten public safety are held responsible.”
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Corinth Police Department, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Mims prosecuted the case.
Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Jackson Field Office Robert Eikhoff added, “Depriving innocent victims of their hard-earned property will not be tolerated. Mr. Loveless’ conviction and sentencing sends a clear message that the FBI and our law enforcement partners will continue to work together to pursue violent offenders relentlessly and work tirelessly to restore safety and justice to our neighborhoods.”
