Cortez K.D. Williams, Bank Robbery, Ohio 2015

A brazen bank robber has been charged with stealing from three Huntington National Bank branches in Ohio.

Cortez K.D. Williams, 24, of Canton, Ohio, has been indicted on three counts of bank robbery by a federal grand jury in the Northern District of Ohio, said Steven M. Dettelbach, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.

Williams is accused of robbing the Huntington National Bank at 230 West Cedar Street in Ravenna on March 27, 2015, and again on September 23, 2015. He is also accused of robbing the same bank at 1045 Trump Road in Carrollton.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Linda H. Barr.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Williams is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, Williams’ sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including any prior criminal records, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation.

In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.

Williams’ prior criminal history and his role in the offense will be taken into consideration during sentencing. The sentence will be determined by the court after review of the facts of the case.
