Quintin Owens, Assault on Cruise Ship, Pennsylvania 2024

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, has been accused of a brutal assault on a cruise ship.

A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted Quintin Owens, 27, on three counts of assault and interstate domestic violence charges, announced United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan today.

The indictment alleges that on or about October 11, 2022, Owens strangled, assaulted, and wounded his intimate and dating partner during a cruise ship excursion departing from Orlando, Florida.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Nicole Vasquez Schmitt is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The case has sparked concern among local residents and cruise ship passengers.

The allegations against Owens are a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed as the case proceeds.
