A South Texas woman has been sentenced to prison in connection with the traffic death of a Belton woman. Cynthia Garcia was sentenced to 10 years in prison on March 29, 2024 in the 27th District Court in Bell County, Texas. Garcia was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in the death of Belton woman, 31-year-old Emily Wilson, who was killed in a traffic accident on September 17, 2022 in Temple, Texas.
According to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office, Garcia’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the accident. The investigation found that Garcia was driving recklessly and failed to stop at a red light, causing the collision that killed Wilson.
Garcia was also sentenced to 10 years of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $10,000. The sentence was handed down by Judge Ray Wheless.
