Tragedy struck the city of Syracuse on the 23rd of December, 1900, with the untimely death of D Poole, a prominent figure in the community. The United States marshal for the northern district of New York, Poole served in the Fifty-fourth congress from 1894 to 1896 and was a veteran of the civil war. His demise came suddenly, as he succumbed to apoplexy on that fateful day.
