BOSTON, MA – In a move to crack down on crime in the Orchard Gardens Housing Development, a member of the Vine/Forest Street gang has been sentenced for selling crack cocaine in the area.
Daiquan Lucas, also known as ‘Sav Montana,’ 25, of Boston, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and six years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young in federal court in Boston.
The incident occurred on Dec. 11, 2015, when Lucas sold cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine, to a cooperating witness near a school in Roxbury.
Lucas pleaded guilty in December 2017 to distribution of cocaine base within 1,000 feet of a school.
On supervised release, Lucas will be prohibited from entering the Orchard Gardens Housing Development and from being in contact or associating with approximately 20 individuals from the same area.
The sentencing comes after a nearly two-year investigation into the high concentration of crime in and around the Orchard Gardens Development, which is the largest publicly funded housing development in Roxbury and is adjacent to area schools and Dudley Square.
The crime stems, in part, from the illegal activities of the members and associates of the Orchard Park Trailblazers, who allegedly have active feuds with rival gangs throughout the city that have produced numerous crimes of violence.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Mickey D. Leadingham, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Boston Police Commissioner William Evans made the announcement.
