60 Years Behind Bars for Filming Child Rape
A Dallas man has been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child pornography, involving young girls as young as 6 years old.
Gemond Copage Miller, 34, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Brantley Starr, who also ordered that the defendant be supervised for life following his release from prison. Miller pleaded guilty in January 2024 to two counts of production of child pornography, a crime that has left a community shaken.
According to investigators, Miller filmed himself sexually assaulting children as young as six years old, then sold the footage on the internet. Law enforcement was able to match distinctive tattoos shown in the footage to Miller’s tattoo, leading to his arrest.
Prosecutors said Miller admitted to abusing at least ten girls under the age of twelve. Investigators identified at least 38 videos of child sexual abuse material produced by Miller, but not all victims have been identified.
Miller was also in possession of approximately 722 images and 1,733 videos constituting child sexual abuse material. The case was a result of a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
A 13-year-old victim, who was just six years old when she was first assaulted, read a statement in court. “My sense of safety and security has been shattered,” she said. “I am the first victim to come forward… Knowing that there are others shows that this is what he does. This is who he is. And he does not care that he took the innocence of children.”
U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton announced the sentencing. The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations’ Dallas Field Office and the Dallas Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Winters prosecuting the case.
