Dallas Wayne Thundershield, 2nd Degree Murder, North Dakota 2016

FARGO, ND – A Spirit Lake man has been found guilty of 2nd Degree Murder in a case that shocked the community.

US Attorney Christopher C. Myers announced that on October 26, 2016, Dallas Wayne Thundershield, 36, of Fort Totten, ND, was found guilty following a six-day trial on a four-count Indictment charging him with 2nd Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Commit Murder, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault Resulting in Substantial Bodily Injury.

The victim, Elvis Demarce, was stabbed multiple times before Thundershield turned his attention to Richard Demarce, who was killed when Thundershield stabbed him in the chest.

Assaulting Priscilla Bear, who was with Thundershield at the time, left her with substantial bodily injury.

The crime occurred on April 9, 2016, in Fort Totten, ND. Thundershield and Priscilla Bear were walking when they were offered a ride by Elvis Demarce and his brother Richard. Thundershield began attacking Priscilla and Elvis, who was stabbed multiple times.

After leaving Elvis in the ditch, Thundershield returned to kill Richard, stabbing him in the chest. He then assaulted Priscilla again, leaving her with serious injuries.

Police were called to the scene and Thundershield was arrested without incident.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Indian Affairs-Fort Totten, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Assistant US Attorneys Janice Morley and Matthew Greenley prosecuted the case.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place on January 24, 2017, at 1:30 PM, at the US District Court located in Fargo, ND.
