Dana Lamb, Tax Evasion, Massachusetts 2022

Boston, MA – In a shocking turn of events, a Boston Police Officer has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, marking a severe blow to the integrity of the force.

Dana Lamb, 57, of Roslindale, was found guilty of filing a false document with the Internal Revenue Service. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal scheduled sentencing for June 30, 2022.

This case began in May 2020, when Lamb, while an officer for the Boston Police Department, sold a winning lottery ticket worth $10,000 to a convenience store owner for cash rather than properly claiming it with the Massachusetts Lottery Commission.

Instead of reporting his $10,000 in gambling winnings, Lamb failed to report it on his U.S. Individual Tax return for the year, resulting in an additional tax due and owing of $1,800.

The charge of filing a false document with the Internal Revenue Service carries a sentence of up to one year in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $10,000.

United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins; Joleen D. Simpson, Special Agent in Charge of the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation in Boston; and Boston Police Acting Commissioner Gregory Long made the announcement today. Valuable assistance was provided by the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugenia M. Carris, Deputy Chief of Rollins’s Public Corruption Unit, is prosecuting the case.

The investigation highlights the importance of transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies. As the Boston Police Department continues to grapple with this scandal, it is clear that the integrity of the force has been compromised.
