Daniel Acosta-Domiguez, Illegal Reentry, Pennsylvania 2016

Daniel Acosta-Domiguez, a.k.a. “Daniel Acosta,” a.k.a. “Jonathan Amador-Alvarez,” 33, of Philadelphia, PA, is back in federal crosshairs — charged with illegal reentry after deportation. The indictment, unsealed today, alleges he was found inside the United States on October 18, 2016, despite having been formally removed on May 21, 2013.

According to federal prosecutors, Acosta-Domiguez, a native and citizen of the Dominican Republic, reentered the country without authorization — a felony under U.S. immigration law. The charge, illegal reentry after deportation, carries a maximum sentence of twenty years in prison if he is convicted.

U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger announced the indictment, emphasizing that the case reflects ongoing efforts to enforce federal immigration laws. “No individual removed from this country gets a free pass to return on their own terms,” Memeger stated. “This office will prosecute illegal reentry cases to the fullest extent of the law.”

The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), both units of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Agents tracked Acosta-Domiguez’s presence through immigration records and field operations, culminating in the federal charge.

Special Assistant United States Attorney Josh A. Davison is handling the prosecution. Court records show Acosta-Domiguez is currently in custody, with arraignment scheduled in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania within the week.

An indictment is not a conviction. Daniel Acosta-Domiguez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under active prosecution by federal authorities.
