Orlando Man Sentenced to 18 Years in Federal Prison for String of Armed Robberies
Orlando, Florida – In a shocking turn of events, a local man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term for his role in a string of armed robberies that terrorized the community. Dany Telfort, a 20-year-old resident of Orlando, was found guilty of two counts of Hobbs Act robbery and two counts of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
The crimes, which took place between March 23 and April 1, 2023, saw Telfort and his co-defendant, Nijah Jahni Mitchell, target various convenience stores throughout Central Florida. During the robberies, Telfort would often enter the store, point a firearm at the store clerks, and demand money from the cash registers.
Telfort’s sentencing, which took place on October 31, 2024, saw him receive a hefty 18-year prison term. In addition to his prison sentence, Telfort was also ordered to forfeit the firearm and ammunition used in the offenses.
The investigation into Telfort’s crimes was a joint effort between several local law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Orlando Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Clermont Police Department, the Ocoee Police Department, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oakland Police Department.
The case against Telfort was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Megan Testerman. Telfort’s co-defendant, Nijah Jahni Mitchell, is currently pending trial.
