Dason Ku, Receipt of Child Pornography, Iowa 2022

A 42-year-old man from Iowa has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography. Dason Ku, a resident of Whiting, Iowa, was given the prison term on August 2, 2022, after pleading guilty to the charges on May 11, 2022. Ku admitted to knowingly receiving visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct on October 24, 2018.

Ku was sentenced by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City. He was ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution to the victims and will also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ron Timmons and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Ku, 42, was given the prison term for receiving child pornography on October 24, 2018. He was sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment, ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution, and will serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his prison term.
