David Brian Olson, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Pennsylvania 2021

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – In a disturbing incident of violence behind bars, 42-year-old David Brian Olson, originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota, was sentenced to 51 months’ imprisonment for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Olson’s crime took place on May 20, 2020, while he was an inmate at the United States Penitentiary, Allenwood, in White Deer, Pennsylvania. He attacked a fellow inmate by hitting the inmate on the head with a metal object tied inside a sock.

The victim required three staples to close the laceration on his head, leaving him shaken and traumatized.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew O. Inman and Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey W. MacArthur prosecuted the case.

According to U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, Olson’s actions demonstrate a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of others.

Olson’s sentencing on November 5, 2021, serves as a reminder that those who commit violent crimes, even behind bars, will face consequences for their actions.

The Grimy Times condemns violence in all its forms and urges law enforcement to continue taking a tough stance on crimes of this nature.
