David E. Clark, Bank Robbery, Missouri 2014

A brazen bank robbery in Kansas City, Missouri, has resulted in a federal charge against David E. Clark, a 35-year-old local man.

According to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Tammy Dickinson, Clark was charged in federal court with the robbery of Commerce Bank, located at 118 W. 47th Street, Kansas City, Mo.

The alleged crime took place on Monday, July 28, 2014, when Clark entered the bank at approximately 1:25 p.m. and demanded cash from a teller.

Clark allegedly handed the teller a note and instructed him to ‘pull out his drawers.’ When the teller refused, Clark allegedly told him to get the keys to unlock the drawers, before ordering the teller to ‘give me 100’s, 50’s and 20’s.’

The teller complied, handing over $3,037 in cash. Clark then swiftly exited the bank’s front door and ran up Wyandotte Street, before being spotted by Kansas City police officers in a white truck.

A car chase ensued, eventually leading to Clark’s arrest after a K9 unit dog was utilized by the police.

Dickinson cautioned that the charge contained in this complaint is simply an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Michael Green. It was investigated by the FBI and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
