David E. Judd, 35, Sentenced to 72 Months in Prison for Child Pornography Distribution
In a shocking turn of events, David E. Judd, a 35-year-old resident of Fort Myers, Florida, has been sentenced to 72 months in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography. The devastating crime has left the community reeling and raises serious concerns about the safety of our children.
According to court documents, Judd used a peer-to-peer Internet network to distribute child pornography images and videos. During an undercover operation, law enforcement agents downloaded child pornography images and videos from Judd’s Internet Protocol address. The horrific discovery was made after a search warrant was executed at his residence, where Judd was found to be in possession of over 8,800 child pornography images.
The case was investigated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation Unit. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tama Koss Caldarone, who has been instrumental in bringing justice to victims of child exploitation.
The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the federal government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
Judd pleaded guilty on January 26, 2015, and his sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John A. Steele. In addition to his prison sentence, Judd will serve a life term of supervision as a sexual offender, a stark reminder of the severity of his crimes.
