In a highly publicized federal case, David Hayes was brought to justice for a string of violent crimes that shook the community in 2017. Hayes, 35-year-old resident of Chicago, Illinois, was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, assault, and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
On January 10, 2017, Hayes was taken into custody by the FBI and charged with several crimes, including two counts of armed robbery in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c), one count of assault with a deadly weapon in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 113(a)(3), and one count of use of a firearm during a crime of violence in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c).
The case, which was heard in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (ILND Federal District), drew widespread attention due to the severity of the crimes and the alleged involvement of Hayes, who was described as a former gang member with a history of violent behavior.
