A Clarksburg man’s life is set to change dramatically after he admitted to an unlawful firearms charge, according to United States Attorney Bill Powell.
David Leon Turner, 30, pled guilty to one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
The crime, which occurred in May 2017 in Harrison County, West Virginia, is a serious offense, especially considering Turner’s prior conviction history.
With three felonies already under his belt, Turner is now facing up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will determine the actual sentence, taking into account the severity of the offenses and Turner’s prior criminal history, if any.
Turner’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley, representing the government, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is handling the investigation.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.
Turner’s actions have put him in a precarious position, but the outcome remains uncertain. The court will now determine his fate, and Turner’s future hangs in the balance.
