David Roy Jones, Producing Child Pornography, New York 2020

A former Rochester resident, David Roy Jones, 54, has been found guilty of producing child pornography. Jones, who pleaded guilty to the charge, faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison.

According to the U.S. Attorney, James P. Kennedy Jr., Jones produced child pornography involving two minors in the summer of 2006. One of the minors was under Jones’ custody, care, and control. The pornographic images were saved to multiple storage media devices and transported from New York to Tennessee.

Jones was later arrested and convicted in Tennessee on similar charges involving other minors. The plea is the result of an investigation by the Hamblen County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Esco R. Jarnagin, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert.

The investigation revealed that Jones had produced child pornography in two separate incidents. The first incident involved a minor who was under Jones’ custody, care, and control. The second incident involved another minor who was not in Jones’ custody.

Jones’ lawyer was not available for comment. However, U.S. Attorney Kennedy stated that the production of child pornography is a serious crime that carries severe penalties. He emphasized that the U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to vigorously prosecute individuals who engage in this heinous crime.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 19, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. before Judge David G. Larimer. Jones’ lawyer has been advised to appear at the sentencing hearing.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office urges anyone with information about child pornography to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The FBI is committed to protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
