David Valadaz, Undocumented Alien Death Conspiracy, Texas 2020

Laredo, Texas – A devastating car crash in Laredo ended in tragedy, resulting in the death of an undocumented alien.

28-year-old David Valadaz has been held accountable for his actions in a federal court, where he pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges on March 11.

On November 5, 2020, law enforcement attempted to pull over Valadaz, but he fled the scene, leading to a high-speed chase that ended in a car wreck. The vehicle crashed into the fence of a local business before Valadaz fled on foot.

Three undocumented aliens were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, with one individual found deceased in the trunk. Another suffered serious bodily injury, requiring surgery to his elbow.

U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo has ordered Valadaz to serve a 97-month sentence, which will be immediately followed by five years of supervised release.

Valadaz has been and will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Anthony Brown and April Ayers-Perez prosecuted the case.
