DC’s streets are safer today as federal prosecutors announced the conviction of Derrick Thomas Martin, a career criminal who unloaded a backpack brimming with guns and drugs from an apartment window. Martin, a repeat offender with over three decades on the law’s radar, was caught after police found him tossing a loaded Micro Draco pistol, 700 grams of coke, and thousands of fentanyl pills into the streets of D.C. The jury took less than a day to convict Martin of possession with intent to distribute large amounts of both drugs, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, all while committing drug trafficking. Sentencing looms in July 2026 for this one-man crime wave.
