Delexsia Harris, 24, of Bradenton, is headed to federal prison for a decade after being sentenced to 10 years for witness tampering and obstruction of justice. U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew handed down the sentence Tuesday in Tampa, capping a case rooted in threats, lies, and a violent murder from 2012.
Harris was convicted by a federal jury on September 22, 2016, following a four-day trial that exposed a campaign of intimidation aimed at sabotaging the prosecution of United States v. Nathaniel Harris et al. Witnesses scheduled to testify were threatened in person and through social media, with Harris allegedly warning one woman that her family would kill her and her children if she cooperated with law enforcement.
The threats weren’t empty. Harris went further—helping a defendant in the same case fabricate a false alibi, actively undermining federal investigators working to bring a violent criminal enterprise to justice. Prosecutors painted her as a key enabler, using fear and deception to shield co-conspirators from accountability.
But the roots of her crimes go back to July 3, 2012—the day Ceola Lazier was murdered. Harris lied to law enforcement, falsely claiming two unknown men in a white Mercedes Benz were responsible. In reality, evidence showed she participated in the killing alongside her brother, Charlie Green, and Jerry W. Green, both of whom were later convicted in the shooting.
The case was cracked open through a joint investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Their work peeled back layers of deception, exposing Harris’s role not only in the cover-up but in the sustained assault on the judicial process itself.
Assistant United States Attorneys Natalie Adams and Shauna Hale prosecuted the case, calling Harris’s actions a direct attack on the rule of law. Her 10-year sentence sends a message: threatening witnesses and obstructing justice will be met with maximum consequences under federal law.
