Threats Against President Land Houston Woman in Hot Water
A 57-year-old Houston resident has been slapped with a federal indictment for making threatening remarks against President Obama, according to a recent release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.
D Denise O’Neal, aka Teddy Bear Paradise, was initially arrested on December 26, 2013, after a criminal complaint was filed against her by the Secret Service. Following her arrest, she appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Johnson, who ordered her held without bond pending further proceedings.
O’Neal is expected to make an initial appearance on the indictment in the near future. The indictment itself alleges that O’Neal mailed a letter to the President containing a threat, specifically stating that she intended to travel to Washington D.C. to murder him.
If convicted, O’Neal faces up to five years in federal prison and a possible fine of $250,000. The case is being investigated by the Secret Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Julie N. Searle.
