Child Pornography Charges Land Council Bluffs Doctor in Prison
Council Bluffs, IA – In a shocking turn of events, 69-year-old Dennis Seaborn Jones, a licensed pediatrician, has been sentenced to 121 months in prison for federal child pornography charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, Jones was found guilty of knowingly possessing child pornography that included images of a prepubescent child or children under 12 years of age.
The charges stem from a search warrant executed by the Council Bluffs Police Department on May 16, 2013, at Jones’ residence in Council Bluffs. During forensic analysis of seized computers, external hard drives, and other electronic equipment, law enforcement located an estimated 1.2 million images and 9,200 videos of child pornography.
At the time of the plea of guilty, Jones was still practicing as a pediatrician in a clinic in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The revelation has left many in the community stunned and outraged.
The case was investigated by law enforcement agents with the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.
Jones was also ordered to serve ten years of supervised release after imprisonment, to pay a $100,000 fine, and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund. As the community struggles to come to terms with the shocking allegations, one thing is clear: Dennis Seaborn Jones will face the consequences of his actions for a long time to come.
