Denver Drug Ring Operative Martinez Jailed for Meth Distribution

United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell dropped the hammer today in Rapid City, South Dakota, announcing that Shelina Martinez, a 34-year-old Denver woman, has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in a massive methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

The sentencing by District Court Judge Karen E. Schreier came down on August 8, 2025, with Martinez facing five years behind bars followed by an additional five years of supervised release. To add insult to injury, she was also ordered to pony up $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Martinez’s downfall began in February 2024 when a federal grand jury indicted her for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. By May 21, 2025, she had plead guilty, and now she’ll pay for her criminality.

Her crime spree ran from January 2022 until February 2024, with Martinez helping to shuttle large quantities of the illegal substance from Denver to South Dakota, including the Rapid City area and the Pine Ridge Reservation. The drugs were a menace to the community, and now Martinez will be too.

This case was a collaborative effort by several law enforcement agencies: the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the Rapid City Police Department, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Wyoming State Highway Patrol, and the North Metro Denver Drug Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Patterson was the prosecuting force behind the conviction.

Martinez was swiftly remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, ensuring that she serves her time where it counts—the federal penitentiary.
