New Orleans men, Denzel Shine, 24, and Rahkeen Roberts, 24, have been convicted of their involvement in a massive fentanyl trafficking ring.
According to court documents, Shine and Roberts conspired with each other and other individuals to distribute fentanyl from sometime prior to January 9, 2021, until August 19, 2021.
The duo is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years, up to 40 years of imprisonment, up to $5,000,000 in fines, at least 4 years of supervised release, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
Shine and Roberts’ guilty plea comes as a result of a thorough investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan L. Shih is leading the prosecution of the case.
The case highlights the ongoing struggle against fentanyl trafficking in the New Orleans area and the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in preventing the distribution of illicit substances.
