MOBILE, AL – Elvin Leonardo Oliva-Rodriguez, 37, a citizen of Honduras, is facing federal charges after allegedly slipping back into the United States despite a previous deportation. An indictment handed down March 13, 2026, accuses Oliva-Rodriguez of violating federal law by illegally re-entering the country.
According to the indictment, Oliva-Rodriguez knowingly entered the US after being previously removed – meaning formally deported – by immigration authorities. The specific details of the initial deportation weren’t immediately released by the US Attorney’s office for the Middle District of Alabama.
US Attorney David I. Courcelle announced the indictment, a standard procedure in cases involving illegal reentry. A conviction under 8 U.S.C. § 1326(a) carries a potential prison sentence, though the length will be determined at sentencing. This case is part of a broader federal effort to crack down on those who evade immigration laws after being legally removed.
