A former Dansville teacher has pleaded guilty to producing and possessing child pornography in New York.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, 29-year-old Derek Hagen of Batavia, NY, admitted to producing and distributing sexually explicit images of prepubescent minors between January 2018 and July 2021.
Hagen, who was employed as an Assistant Teacher at the Brockport Childhood Development Center in May and June 2018, produced and possessed sexually explicit images of children as young as six months old.
The images were produced while Hagen was changing diapers and assisting children with bathroom activities.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle P. Rossi stated that Hagen distributed the images over the internet to other individuals.
Hagen also possessed approximately 50,000 images and videos of child pornography that he received from others via the internet.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the New York State Police, Homeland Security Investigations, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
Hagen faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of 30 years, and a $250,000 fine.
