DETROIT, Michigan’s Alexandra Elaine Burris, 27, has admitted to pushing poison on Oklahoma streets—pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute both heroin and cocaine in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The charges, handed down under Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(C), carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and up to $1,000,000.00 in fines for each count.
The indictment centers on a single day of criminal reckoning—August 11, 2016—when Burris allegedly possessed and prepared to distribute a mixture containing a detectable amount of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, within Muskogee’s jurisdiction. That same day, she is accused of doing the same with cocaine, a Schedule II drug, signaling a calculated operation rather than a casual offense.
Law enforcement didn’t look the other way. The McAlester Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration joined forces in a targeted investigation that peeled back the layers of Burris’s operation. Evidence led directly to her arrest and, ultimately, her guilty plea in federal court.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven P. Shreder presided over the hearing in Muskogee, accepting Burris’s plea without leniency. A presentence investigation report is now underway, a final step before sentencing. Until then, Burris will remain locked up, facing the full weight of federal prosecution.
Assistant United States Attorney Rob Wallace, known for his no-nonsense approach to drug crimes, represented the federal government. His office is pushing for maximum accountability, emphasizing the damage such distribution inflicts on struggling communities.
The case stands as another stark chapter in the opioid and stimulant crisis sweeping through rural and urban America alike. Burris’s actions—though confined to a single date—may have fueled addiction, shattered families, and endangered lives. Sentencing is pending, but the consequences will ripple far beyond the courtroom.
