Devon Ashley Edwards, Hobbs Act Robbery, Pennsylvania 2018

A brazen daytime heist at the Jared-Galleria of Jewelry in Millcreek Township has led to a guilty plea. Devon Ashley Edwards, 37, a former resident of Detroit, Michigan, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of Hobbs Act robbery, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today.

On November 19, 2018, Edwards and a co-defendant entered the Jared-Galleria of Jewelry in Millcreek Township and used a hammer to smash display cases and remove jewelry. This violent crime left the community shaken.

Devon Ashley Edwards, the defendant, entered the plea before United States District Judge Susan Paradise Baxter. This marks a significant step in the case, bringing closure to the victims and their families.

The law provides for a total sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Millcreek Police Department.

Devon Ashley Edwards’ sentencing is scheduled for December 9, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. The community can expect justice to be served, and the defendant will face the consequences of his actions.
