A Pine Bluff woman will spend the next 18 months in federal prison for lying to a grand jury.
Dezstiny Collins, 29, of Pine Bluff, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and three years’ supervised release for perjury, announced United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas Jonathan D. Ross.
Collins was charged with making false declarations before a grand jury in an indictment handed down on August 3, 2022. She pleaded guilty to the perjury charge on December 5, 2024.
The indictment stemmed from a federal investigation into ammunition possessed by convicted felons during a shooting and homicide in Pine Bluff. Collins was subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury on March 2, 2022, and repeatedly denied being with the suspects from the February 26, 2019, shooting despite being confronted with surveillance video footage from local businesses that placed her with the suspects immediately prior to the shooting.
At the change of plea hearing, Collins acknowledged that the testimony she provided before the grand jury was not truthful.
The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the FBI and Pine Bluff Police Department. The case was prosecuted in the Eastern District of Arkansas by Assistant United States Attorney Amanda Fields.
Collins’ 18-month sentence was handed down on April 10, 2025, by United States District Judge Brian S. Miller. There is no parole in the federal system.
