District Man Sentenced to 35 Years for东南华盛顿凶杀案

GRIMY TIMES – In a chilling display of justice, Dennis Chase, 33, from Washington, D.C., was locked away for the rest of his life as he was sentenced to 420 months in federal prison for the cold-blooded murder of Anthony Orr. The sentence, handed down on July 25, 2025, by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, capped a years-long investigation.

Chase’s brutal crime took place on Xenia St. SE in the Washington Highlands neighborhood when he shot and killed Orr while armed. Authorities revealed that Chase not only fled the scene but also attempted to dispose of evidence by burning his getaway car in Severn, Maryland.

The jury found Chase guilty of first-degree murder while armed, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm. During the trial, Chase claimed self-defense, a claim that fell on deaf ears as the court deemed him responsible for the heinous act.

U.S. Attorney Pirro praised the relentless efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department in their investigation, along with the Anne Arundel County Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Chase. The prosecution team, led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Peter Roman, Wes Faulkner, and Andrea Antonelli, was also commended for their dedication to justice.

Pirro’s statement included gratitude for Investigative Analyst Zach McMenamin, Paralegal Specialist Meridith McGarrity, Litigation Technology Specialists Leif Hickling and Charlie Bruce, Victim/Witness Advocate Jenn Clark, and Victim/Witness Coordinators Maenylie Watson and Katina Adams-Washington, all instrumental in bringing Chase to justice.

The sentence of 35 years will ensure that Chase spends the remainder of his days behind bars for one of Washington, D.C.’s most heinous crimes. The city continues to grapple with the repercussions of this senseless act, but the sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of violence and the pursuit of justice.
