Adrian Bryce Spotted Horse, Domestic Assault by an Habitual Offender, South Dakota 2018

A 57-month prison stint awaits Adrian Bryce Spotted Horse, Sr., 39, of Wakpala, South Dakota, after a conviction for Domestic Assault by an Habitual Offender.

The harsh sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles B. Kornmann in federal court in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In addition to the prison time, Spotted Horse was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

According to court documents, Spotted Horse committed a domestic assault against his partner in March 2018. At the time of the assault, he had previously been convicted of at least two separate offenses that would have been classified as assaults against a spouse or intimate partner if subject to federal jurisdiction.

The assault resulted in injuries to the victim, who received medical treatment. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Office of Justice Services, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri prosecuted the case.
