BANGOR, Maine: Lenin Nova-Nova, a 42-year-old Dominican national, is facing a decade or more behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute.
A traffic stop by the East Millinocket Police Department in November 2023 revealed the shocking discovery of 113 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine, 19 grams of a substance containing fentanyl, and 57.8 grams of a substance containing cocaine base on Nova-Nova’s person.
Nova-Nova, who identified himself using a false name at the time of the arrest, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. A search of his person also uncovered $1,305 in cash and four cell phones.
According to court records, Homeland Security Investigations was able to determine Nova-Nova’s true identity, which led to his guilty plea in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
Nova-Nova now faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in federal prison, as well as a fine up to $10 million, followed by supervised release for up to life.
The case was investigated by the East Millinocket Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
Nova-Nova will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office, and a federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Nova-Nova’s guilty plea and impending sentence serve as a stark reminder of the severity of the consequences for those involved in drug trafficking, and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat this threat to public safety.
