TYLER, Texas – A twice-deported Mexican national has been hit with federal charges for illegal reentry into the United States, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Jose Orlando Colorado-Barcenas, 35, a resident of Texarkana, was charged by a grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas for the offense. The indictment states that on May 14, 2025, Colorado-Barcenas was discovered living in Texarkana, despite having been deported to Mexico twice—first in June 2009 and then again in January 2010.
This case is a part of Operation Take Back America, an aggressive nationwide campaign aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguarding communities from violent crime. Operation Take Back America consolidates resources from the Department of Justice’s OCDETFs and PSN initiatives.
Should Colorado-Barcenas be found guilty, he could face up to 2 years in federal prison and deportation. The investigation into this case is a collaborative effort between Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Richards leading the prosecution.
It’s important to note that a federal indictment does not prove guilt; all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
