Dupree Man Sentenced for Simple Assault

A Dupree man has been sentenced for a violent crime, leaving a victim with minor bruises and swelling.

Elton Lone Eagle, Sr., 31, was sentenced to time served and a $10 special assessment for his role in a simple assault incident in June 2012.

According to authorities, Lone Eagle, along with another individual, assaulted the victim, causing the injuries. The incident occurred in Dupree, South Dakota.

Lone Eagle was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 15, 2012, and pled guilty to the charge of Simple Assault on January 25, 2013.

The case was investigated by the Cheyenne River Law Enforcement Services, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Morley prosecuted the case.

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which was also handled by U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno.

Lone Eagle’s sentence marks the conclusion of a federal investigation into the assault. The case highlights the severity of simple assault and the importance of justice being served.
