Dwayne Harvey, Bank Robbery, Pennsylvania 2023

A brazen bank robbery in North Versailles, PA, and another in Pittsburgh, PA, have landed a former Braddock resident behind bars. Dwayne Harvey, 55, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of bank robbery.

According to the indictment, on or about July 28, 2023, Harvey robbed a branch of Huntington Bank in North Versailles, PA, of over $4,000. Just over a week later, on or about August 8, 2023, Harvey robbed a branch of Citizens Bank in Pittsburgh, PA, of over $3,000.

The indictment comes after an investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and the North Versailles Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin C. Dobkin is prosecuting this case on behalf of the United States.

The law provides for a maximum sentence of not more than 20 years in prison, a fine not to exceed $250,000, a term of supervised release of not more than 3 years or a combination thereof. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The residents of Braddock, PA, are still reeling from the news, saying they are shocked and disappointed by Harvey’s alleged actions. ‘This is a clear example of how crime can affect not just one community, but an entire region,’ said one resident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
