CLEVELAND MAN INDICTED FOR ARMED ROBBERIES
A brazen string of armed robberies shook the streets of Cleveland in December 2018, leaving victims shaken and business owners on high alert. Now, a Cleveland man has been charged with committing five of those heinous crimes.
Dwyon Moore, 50, was indicted on five counts of Hobbs Act robbery and five counts of using a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. The charges stem from a series of robberies that took place in Cleveland on December 12 and 14, 2018.
According to the indictment, Moore used a firearm to rob the following businesses:
- Wonton Gourmet on Payne Avenue on December 12, 2018
- D.O. Summers Cleaners and Laundry on Carnegie Avenue on December 14, 2018
- Dark and Lovely Hair and Beauty on Cedar Avenue on December 14, 2018
- Bo Loong on St. Clair Avenue on December 14, 2018
- Good Times Café on East 55th Street on December 14, 2018
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer for everyone.
If convicted, Moore’s sentence will be determined by the Court after reviewing factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violations.
The case was investigated by the Cleveland Division of Police, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office’s Crime Strategies Unit. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Hanley.
An indictment is only an allegation and is not evidence of guilt. Moore is entitled to a fair trial, where the government will have to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
