Dyshawn Williams, Armed Robbery, New Jersey 2024

Two men have admitted to participating in an armed robbery of a U.S. Postal Service employee in Newark, New Jersey.

Dyshawn Williams, 28, and Karieem Stamps, 26, both of Newark, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to their respective roles in the crime.

According to court documents, Williams and two other individuals robbed a U.S. Postal Service employee at gunpoint in November 2023. They stole the victim’s cell phone, keys, and wallet, which included a credit card and debit card.

The robbery impeded the victim from delivering mail, which interfered with interstate commerce. Following the robbery, Stamps and another individual used the stolen debit card to make purchases.

Stamps, who was convicted of a felony offense in 2020, was also found to be in possession of a Glock 29 Gen5 handgun and 26 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition on August 1, 2024.

Williams faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for his role in the conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery and assaulting a federal employee.

Stamps faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine for wire fraud, a mandatory two-year prison sentence for aggravated identity theft, and a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

U.S. Attorney Alina Habba credited postal inspectors with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Philadelphia Division, with the investigation, along with other law enforcement agencies.
