A 46-month prison sentence has been handed down to Earl Hobby, a 37-year-old New Haven man, for his role in a firearm offense in Connecticut.
In December 2014, Hobby was involved in a struggle with New Haven Police Department officers, during which two officers were injured. Following the altercation, Hobby was found in possession of two rounds of Winchester .38 Special ammunition.

On January 21, 2016, Hobby pleaded guilty to one count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
The case was investigated by the New Haven Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer Laraia and Anthony Kaplan handling the prosecution.
