Jevon M. Jenkins, Aiding and Abetting Kidnapping, East St. Louis IL…

Jerkface Jevon M. Jenkins from the rough streets of East St. Louis, Illinois, was today nailed to 135 months in federal clink by Judge David R. Herndon for aiding and abetting a grim kidnapping plot. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, made sure the message was clear: ‘Brutality and torture will not be tolerated here.’

The July 2012 incident saw Jenkins and his cronies pummel a poor soul from Cahokia. They then shackled this guy in a car and drove him across the Popular Street Bridge into Missouri, no less.

Judge Herndon, noting the case’s ‘shocking brutality,’ didn’t beat around the bush, dishing out the max. No parole. Five years of supervised release? You bet. Restitution to the victim? It’s on Jenkins’ tab. As Wigginton put it, this sentence is a message to all the scumbags out there.

But it wasn’t just the judge who had something to say. U.S. Attorney Wigginton took his turn at the podium, thanking the law enforcement, witnesses, and especially the victim for their courage and perseverance. ‘This case wouldn’t have seen the light of day without them,’ he said.

The Save Our Streets Task Force, a joint effort of the FBI, Illinois State Police, Columbia and East St. Louis police departments, played a crucial role in the summer of 2012. This crew doesn’t play around when it comes to getting justice for folks like this.

Assistant United States Attorney Monica A. Stump prosecuted the case, ensuring Jenkins got what he deserved. Now, let’s hope the streets of East St. Louis are a little safer for those who call them home.
