Eduardo Flores-Diaz, Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, Arizona 2023

TUCSON, Ariz. – Eduardo Flores-Diaz, 43, of Mexico, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison for his role in a significant fentanyl trafficking operation in Arizona.

According to a recent sentencing order, Flores-Diaz pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, a serious federal offense. The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) Strike Force operation aimed at disrupting and dismantling high-level criminal organizations.

The investigation, which was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, revealed that Flores-Diaz traveled from Tucson, Arizona, with three co-conspirators in April 2022. The group was subsequently stopped in Scottsdale, Arizona, during a buy/bust operation, where approximately 90,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl were discovered in their possession.

Flores-Diaz’s sentencing marks the culmination of a thorough investigation and prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney David Petermann, District of Arizona, Tucson. The U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, handled the prosecution.
