Eduardo Zazueta, a 25-year-old New Mexican, has admitted to a federal firearms charge. Zazueta pleaded guilty on July 30 in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Zazueta was indicted on November 17, 2020. Court records show that on September 30, 2020, in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Zazueta sold a 9mm handgun to an undercover agent.
Zazueta had been convicted previously of possession of a controlled substance and trafficking in controlled substances. As a previously convicted felon, Zazueta is prohibited from legally possessing firearms or ammunition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jaymie L. Roybal is prosecuting the case.
Zazueta will remain in custody pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
