A 26-year-old Mission, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for failure to register as a sex offender, according to United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler. Edward Zane Roubideaux, Jr. was convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in November 2011. As a result of this conviction, he is required to register as a sex offender.
Roubideaux allegedly failed to properly register as a sex offender between June 8, 2017, and June 23, 2017. The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years in custody and/or a $250,000 fine, 5 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
Roubideaux was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson is prosecuting the case, which is being conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service. The charge is merely an accusation and Roubideaux is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
As a registered sex offender, Roubideaux is subject to certain requirements, including notifying authorities of any change of address and providing identification information.
