Montgomery, Alabama – In a chilling revelation from the courts of Elmore County, Joshua Ray Parton, 25, has been sentenced to serve 30 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. The monstrous actions of Parton, which spanned between 2007 and 2012, included raping a twelve-year-old boy and a nine-year-old boy on multiple occasions, utilizing his cell phone camera to capture his heinous acts.
U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., announced the sentence, emphasizing that Parton’s actions were not just a crime against the law but a grave offense against innocence and humanity. The families of the victims shared their harrowing experiences, detailing the profound suffering and lifelong scars their children have endured.
Judge Myron Thompson highlighted the immeasurable trauma inflicted on both the child victims and their families during the sentencing hearing. ‘The actions of this defendant were revolting and despicable,’ said Beck, adding that the sentence is a resounding message to those who would prey upon children. ‘We will not tolerate it and they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,’ he declared.
Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin echoed these sentiments, noting the ongoing epidemic of sexual assaults plaguing not only Elmore County but locations across the country. He expressed hope that Parton would have time to reflect on his actions during his imprisonment.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation with support from the United States Marshal’s Service, while Assistant United States Attorney Jared H. Morris prosecuted the case.
