Elyaxel Vasquez, 31, and Ashley Shivers, 31, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, are headed to federal prison after admitting their roles in a multi-year methamphetamine distribution ring that flooded local streets with over 50 grams of pure meth from 2014 through December 2015. The pair pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, sealing their fates in a Sioux City federal courtroom.
Vasquez was handed a 126-month sentence, while Shivers received 78 months, both dealt by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Each was also slapped with a $100 special assessment and will face a mandatory 5-year term of supervised release upon completion of their prison terms. There is no parole in the federal system—meaning both will serve every mandated day behind bars.
The conspiracy wasn’t just about volume—it was brazen. Authorities confirmed both Vasquez and Shivers distributed meth to individuals who were actively cooperating with law enforcement, exposing the depth of their disregard for detection and consequences. The operation centered in Fort Dodge but rippled across county lines, drawing in multiple investigative agencies.
The case was investigated by a coalition of law enforcement units, including the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Tri-County Drug Task Force, Webster County Drug Task Force, Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminalistics Investigation. Their joint efforts dismantled the network and gathered evidence that left no room for denial at sentencing.
