Emmanuelle Padilla, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, California 2022

FRESNO, Calif. — A 28-year-old Fresno man has been sentenced to 63 months in custody for being a felon in possession of ammunition and a probation violation, according to United States Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

Emmanuelle Padilla was found in possession of ammunition on Oct. 24, 2022, and has prior felony convictions for possessing controlled substances while armed and being a felon in possession of a firearm, making him prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, said authorities.

According to court documents, Padilla’s recent arrest was the result of an investigation by the Fresno Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Arin C. Heinz prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, making neighborhoods safer for everyone, said officials.

PSN was launched in May 2021 by the U.S. government as part of a violent crime reduction strategy. The program is based on four core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

Padilla’s 63-month sentence is a result of his felony convictions and a probation violation, said authorities. The case is a prime example of the importance of law enforcement working together to keep communities safe.

The Fresno Police Department and the FBI worked together to bring Emmanuelle Padilla to justice, said officials. Assistant United States Attorney Arin C.
