Eric Olsen, Providing Material Support to Terrorists, Louisiana 2024

A French court has sentenced Eric Olsen, the former CEO of Lafarge, to six years in prison for funding jihadists in Syria.

Olsen was found guilty of financing a terrorist organization, specifically the Islamic State, through his company’s operations in Syria from 2013 to 2014.

The court also fined Lafarge 25 million euros ($27 million) and ordered the company to pay 5 million euros ($5.5 million) in damages to the French state.

The case against Olsen and Lafarge was one of the most high-profile cases related to the financing of terrorism in France.
